Institute for Roentgen Optics
X-ray analytical tools based on Kumakhov polycapillary optics for nano- material analysis
Dear Colleague,

Probably, you and your organization will be interested with
the below-mentioned information, able to be useful to you
in your researches.

In IRO a number of unique x-ray devices on the basis of
Kumakhov polycapillary optics are developed, created and
commercially accessible:

- " Laboratory synchrotron " – sources of x-ray
radiation of high flux density on the basis of microfocus
x-ray tube and Kumakhov polycapillary optics;
protein diffractometer on a basis «laboratory synchrotron»;

- X-ray Nano-Scanner "XNS-1".
Direct not destroying measurements of parameters nanosize objects are one of the most important problems in the field of modern technology and basic researches. Determination of the size,the form and concentration nano-particles, interstices and technologically created details of structure, and also measurement of characteristic distances between them is carried out by a method x-ray small-angle scattering. The specified method practically is realized by means of specialized installations on synchrotron sources,and in laboratory conditions with use tube with a rotating anode.
Now the leader of manufacture of laboratory installations for measurement x-ray small-angle scattering is Rigaku (Japan) offering system Nanoviewer (2D CCD detector Mercury70, confocal optics Max-flux from Osmic).
In Institute for Roentgen optics the diagnostic system on the basis of polycapillary optics surpassing by analytical opportunities system Nanoviewer is developed.

- Portable X-ray Nano-Thickness Indicator "PXNT-1".
X-ray interferometry method provides the most exact and unequivocal measurements of thickness of layers of any materials in a range of 1-300 nanometers and is considered now as the standard which can be used for calibration of other devices, for example optical ellipsometeres. However now serial X-ray installations for X-ray optical measurements are complex and expensive devices which demand for accommodation a separate premise.Offered X-ray Nano-Thickness Indicator development at IRO is the first portable device of the considered class accessible to the broad audience of interested users.

- The portable x-ray microanalyzer for element analysis.
In structure of the device is used Kumakhov lens with a focal spot 50-250 microns. Due to use of Kumakhov polycapillary optics the highest efficiency of the device (sensitivity up to 10 ppm.) together with increase of compactness (only 15 kg) and reduction of power consumption (a x-ray source only 50 W) is achieved.

- Portable manual x-ray fluorescence analyzer « FOCUS-R »

- Portable x-ray diffractometers with Kumakhov polycapillary semilense for stress analysis of a responsible details, units and designs. Due to use of Kumakhov polycapillary optics the highest efficiency of the device together with increase of compactness (only 14 kg) and reduction of power consumption (a x-ray source only 10 (5) W) is achieved.
- A series multifunctional diffractometers for phase, stress and element analysis.
Combination diffractometry and the fluorescent analysis in one device. By means of application of Kumakhov polycapillary optics no necessity for use monochromators and collimators that has allowed to reduce the sizes of the device at preservation of an opportunity of research of the big samples.

- X-ray MiniLab. We offer to material research labs in science and industry a new versatile X-ray instrument based on latest developments in focussing polycapillary optics, semitransparent monochromators, and new conceptual design. Our compact facility provides you high precision, friendly interface, and unique combination of analytical opportunities: Diffractometry; Reflectometry; Refractometry; Small-angle scattering;
Local X-Ray Fluorescence. Controlled parameters: surface and interface roughness (down to 0.1 nm); thin layer thickness (1-400 nm); surface layer density; structure period; composition of layers; radius and concentration of nanoparticles; surface and interface roughness (down to 0.1 nm); radius of curvature (up to 300 m).

- X-ray Optical Microscope with local composition analyzer.
IRO is pleased to offer an advanced X-Ray facility providing versatile imaging and varieties of analytical opportunities. Advantages Operation Modes: X-Ray microscopy; Optical microscopy; Local X-Ray fluorescence; Sterilization by focused radiation; Microdiffraction. The design is based on our innovative research in polycapillary optics, spectrum modulation, and digital data procession: simultaneous X-Ray and optical imaging; fully automated data acquisition; fast expositions: down to 0,1 s; local composition and structure analysis; complete radiation safety.

- miniature x-ray tube, x-ray tube assembly, x-ray generator;

- X-ray and Neutron polycapillary optics;

Cost of devices in 2-3 times of below world analogues that is achieved
due to use IRO patented Kumakhov polycapillary optics. Some from
suggested devices have no analogues in the world. Devices are
certificated.

Also at present in IRO there is an opportunity of manufacturing under requirements of the customer unique x-ray optical and neutron optical polycapillary systems which can be applied to scientific researches, development of new devices and integration into already available analytical equipment.

IRO not only makes the given x-ray equipment, but also uses it at realization of the analysis in various industries and sciences. Due to this there is a constant feedback that allows to make operatively changes to a design of devices in view of requirements of consumers.

In case of your interest we can send you more detailed information on production. We are ready to answer any questions.
